Salsa Fresca

There’s nothing like homemade fresh salsa, especially in late summer when tomatoes are in season. Enjoy with warm, homemade corn tortillas or as a topping for black bean tostadas.

Serves 4 – 6


  • 5 medium tomatoes, cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 1-2 jalapeños, seeded and minced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ medium red onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped


  1. In a bowl, gently stir together all the ingredients.
