July 10, 2012: Assistance Dogs of the West recently donated 100 copies of “Nito and Chloe Love Carrots,” the latest book in a series about a little girl and her assistance dog, Nito. The theme of the book is healthy eating, which ties in well with Cooking with Kids’ work teaching children how to cook healthy foods.
Author Judith Newton, an Assistance Dogs of the West client and Advisory Board member, read her story to delighted five- and six-year-olds recently at a CWK class at Zona del Sol’s summer camp. Joining Ms. Newton was her assistance dog “Chablis,” a five-year-old Labrador Retriever. This fall, Cooking with Kids plans to give the books to kindergarten and first grade teachers in twelve CWK-participating schools and is delighted that Ms. Newton will be introducing her book in several of our cooking classes!
