Children in Ms. England’s 3rd grade class at César Chávez Community School had a special guest today. Chablis, who is an Assistance Dogs of the West graduate, and her owner Judith Newton, visited a CWK Ethiopian Lentils and Injera cooking class.

Chablis sent this thank you note after the class:

I am the luckiest dog in all of Santa Fe. It is so much fun to visit with the children in the Cooking with Kids program. It was really interesting to listen (I look like I’m sleeping, but I am not) to all the information about Ethiopia and then watch the kids prepare the food. All the kids were so happy and were very serious about following the recipe. They learned to do many different things like measuring and mincing, and they shared and helped each other. Of course, what I loved most was having the children sit in a circle. We talked about healthy food (for people and dogs). All of them knew that too much sugar is bad for our teeth. Then they had a chance to pat me. When I had to leave I got a taste of Ethiopian bread (I can’t spell the name). It was delicious! Thank you for letting me come and I hope I can do it again!
Love, Chablis

Thank you Chablis and Judith for the wonderful visit!
